TASTING NOTES

Vineyard: Single vineyard in Frankland River, Great Southern. Soils comprise of iron-stone base gravels and duplex sandy loams.

Vintage: A superb vintage with good winter rains slowing in spring allowing timely access for spray applications. Early but even bud burst and good flowering conditions. Dry but mild conditions December to April resulted in very low disease pressures and an early vintage with moderate to low yields. Quality was outstanding across all varieties.

Appearance: Dense inky red with a youthful purple hue.

Aroma: Blackcurrant, spice and tobacco with leafy hints of mint.

Palate: Briary red and dark fruits with a complex mid palate of chocolate and velvety tannins leading to a long, toasty coffee bean finish supported by fine grain French oak. A beautifully structured and complex Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon.

Varietals: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes: Fruit is harvested, de-stemmed and crushed, then cold soaked for five days to encourage gentle extraction of colour, perfume and flavour. The wine is left on its skins for three weeks post-fermentation to extract further colour and tannins, before being transferred to oak barriques to complete malolactic fermentation.

Maturation: 18 months in French and American oak barriques, 50% being new oak.

Cellaring: to 2034

Alcohol: 14.5% Vol

pH: 3.69

Acidity: 5.6 g/L

Residual Sugar: 0.8 g/L
